I wouldn't feel comfortable accepting an "illegal" connection. My understanding is that you have no protection if you miss the connection under such circumstances.

I encountered a similar situation where my connection to TAM from AA became illegal - 2 different tickets. I opted to return the TAM ticket and fly Varig within Brasil. Sometimes these things happen. Good luck
