$100 standby fee and use-it-or-lose-it policy expanded to int'l tickets

AA just expanded the $100 standby rule for international non-refundable tickets for travel originating in the U.S. (also effective 01JAN03)

These tickets will also lose their entire value on the day of ticketed departure (also effective 01OCT02). Note that change fees on these tickets are generally much higher, for example $200 to Europe (so you end up losing $400 if you have to double-reticket a European trip).

So if you're flying internationally you might want to book a different airline -- most of them, including United, British Airways, Lufthansa, etc -- haven't adopted them.
