Republics theory is that on the majority of our fleet doesn't have overwing exits and to be able to assess the outside conditions in an emergency we (the F/A's) need to be able to see out. We do have a porthole on the door budt we also look out the windows too. Its also for standardization we have less planes that have have the overwing exits so we use the same policy for all aircraft.
