Elevator certs are something I check just out of curiosity. I'd say over 60% of them are out of date. Some by over three years! I've called it to the attention of a few properties and was told that the inspectors have been cut back and they will get to them when they can but can keep operating as long as the request has been submitted. Some fudge and just post a sign that the cert is in the GM's office or some such verbage.

If I find one so rickety that I'm concerned to use it, the cert ain't gonna make a difference! I have been stuck in elevators so not too scared about it. Now if they dropped, even a little, I'd have a different opinion.
