Could someone just point me to an informational thread?

I'd be interested in paid fares with guaranteed upgrade for miles, or if I have to, Biz with miles only. We've got 750K Mileage Plus miles between us.

We're interested in West Coast SMF/SFO/OAK to LHR this July/August if that helps at all.

An important thing to note is that *A awards are all saver awards. Using partners vs. UA's own stock works if UA has only standard awards available. I have not generally found that to be the case for TATL, but experiences vary.

One thing to try on, say, ANA is routing through various cities to see if you can find more availability. From SFO you might look at, say, routing through YYZ to see if there is any AC availability. If you're willing to do a short north American leg in Y, with C for the TATL leg, that can help.
