Agree with the last post that the Govt rate isn't always best. I shop my hotel rates accross MVP site and Hhonors.com and the variance is usually surprising. Also always use AAA# and check accross all rates and choose the best one. Sometimes Govt, sometimes AAA, and sometimes MVP site. It is crazy but the same room in Miami (just an example) may vary by over $150 across these sites and rates. The bottom line is that you need to shop it if you really want the best rate. I have not tried calling the hotel directly and asking for something even better, but after reading these posts I may try it. It can't hurt.
