Although I wouldn't say I am "dead-set" on SQ, it is, they are my #1 preference. I've flown with CX (had major backaches with their new non-reclining seats), as well as AC (lost baggage, poor hard product) transpacific a few years back.
Why is flying AC such a huge con? Lost luggage happens on all airlines, including SQ and not sure when you flew last time on AC, but the hard product is actually quite good these days. If you're flying out of YYZ, AC is convenient and the soft product, while of course not in the same league as SQ, is still pretty good in its own North American way. I only fly J on AC so the individual pods are fantastic for the 12+ hour to NRT. Even Y cabin has AVOD and relatively good pitch.

I fly YYZ-NRT-SIN-KUL every month for the past year and here is what I've done so far in terms of SIN:

YYZ-NRT-SIN (AC1, NH111)
YYZ-NRT-SIN (AC1, SQ11)
YYZ-LHR-SIN (AC856, SQ)
YYZ-FRA-SIN (AC/LH, SQ)
YYZ-HKG-SIN (AC15, SQ)
YYZ-ICN-SIN (AC, SQ)

There is really no easy way to do this route in terms of connection times and/or arrival/departure times however my personal favorite right now is the second routing cause I get a half day to spend at NRT on the way back (incoming is only 3.5 hours connection) which I put to good use visiting my Japanese friends over some breakfast or early lunch.
