Why? Because they're harder to accrue. Other than airlines there are very few markets out there where a less expensive product is resold at a higher price than a higher priced one. Yes, the RDMs have a direct redemption value but buying status does, too.
this is confusing to me - did you mean to say that EQMs are harder to accrue? if not, could you expound on that? it seems to me there are tonnes of opportunity to earn reward miles...
