The quote you have includes an enormous fee - for the car to be trucked back from Edinburgh to Ireland.

You will find it massively cheaper (even when you add on air fare or passenger ferry fare) to leave the Irish registered car in Ireland and pick up another car in Scotland.

That said - if you are going direct to Edinburgh - you do not want a car in Edinburgh. A car is a real hindrance for a visitor there.
