Indeed MJLogan, the 777 is a comfortable plane. I can understand the excitement on flying on a new plane, but after having flown on A380 a few times (not on AF), I fail to see why some posters rate it as a "better" plane. It is not wider (roomier) than the 747. The major difference is that it has a bigger upper deck, but the main deck is not bigger. When you are one of the approx 400 Y pax downstairs, there is nothing to prevent the feeling that you are in a bus, just like on the main deck of a 747. In Biz, you will feel less claustrophobic on the 777 than on the A380. The upper deck of the A380, where biz seats are located, has much less space (width, length and heigth) than the single deck of the 777. So could feel marginally more claustrophobic. Less width means that they have only 6 seats abreast on A380 as opposed to 7 on 777. That is an advantage to have no middle seat.
Other airlines introduced better seats in C & F on their A380, but AF stuck to its old seats (with some very minor cosmetic changes), so no difference there either. And regarding the marketing blabla about noise, it all depends where you sit (front or back), as on any plane. I still remember the silly "noise "campaign when the A340 was introduced.
AF biz seat is unfortunately an old-generation lie-flat. Meaning that the average angle is about 160°, farcry from horizontal (180). TV screen is small. Avod system has improved with now 80 movies, although selection is not great (few recent hits). Food is excellent, wines mediocre. But as a family trip, you will enjoy it.
