Ireland to Scotland
Hello all,
Visiting Ireland & Scotland with the wife in about three weeks and am looking to rent a car from Hertz. We're flying into Dublin and plan to end the Scottish segment in Edinburgh after which, we plan to take the train to London. We're going to be spending quite a bit of time in the car and plan to cross over via ferry from Belfast to Stranraer. Hertz tells me I have to buy an AA 5 star policy before I can take the car over, but no one I've spoken to (5 people now) have any information on what this is and how I get it. The last thing I want to do when getting to Ireland is running around on my vacation trying to get this coverage.
As we'll have quite a bit of luggage I'm leery of splitting the rental into two parts, as I fear it will be quite the hassle and walking distance getting on the ferry and off, then finding another Hertz location. But, given what they want to charge me for a one way drop off (dropping car off in Edinburgh), I'm having some serious doubts about the whole thing.
Also, there seem to be no Hertz discounts that I can apply to make this a little easier on the pocket book. Total 8 day rental with drop off is coming out at around $2,750.
Anyways, any and all input much appreciated!
Thank you,
Kevin
