Frustrated -- made to wait 20 minutes and then lied to at Avis

Hello all,

I really am not a complainer, I have never posted anything on here in a negative sense but, I have to vent.

Just rented from my Avis local location, I normally use Enterprise but, this time Avis was comparable and I found a coupon for a free upgrade.

When I arrive, I find no one is there, the sign on the door says closed. I called the reservation line and they give me the number to customer service. I call customer service and no one is there on Saturday! Frustrated I call back reservations and they tell me to wait a little while, someone will be there soon.

Finally after 20 minutes someone shows up. As I am being checked in I ask about my upgrade, the clerk ignores me, the only thing the clerk spoke to me about was trying to sell me the insurance. So then he hands me the keys (question here, are they supposed to walk around the car like Enterprise does? he just handed me the keys to the car and said thanks). I ask what kind of car it is, he tells me its a Taurus and it is considered premium, so yes i got my upgrade.

After reading on here AND calling reservations, I figure out that a Taurus is a full size. I understand upgrades are based on availability but, then why lie to me? I would have been fine if they told me no cars were available and I didn't get the upgrade but, after being made to wait, I was frustrated.

Does this sound bad to anyone else or am I just used to dealing with Enterprise where I never dealt with this?
