Brilliant GAs Using Zone 2 Boarding as Bait

Friday afternoon, Flight 1961, IAD-ATL, GA announcement (paraphrasing), "We have a pretty full flight today. It is unlikey that there will be enough room for everyone's bags in the overhead. If you are willing to come forward and have your bag gate checked to your final destination, not only will there be no charge, but you will be permitted to board with Zone 2."

There were many volunteers. I was called to the podium - that's another story for another post - and watched about a dozen people willingly have their bags yellow tagged to their final destination. Once they didn't have bags, when they boarded really didn't matter because they wouldn't be taking up OH space. IMO, the GAs should be congratulated for coming up with such an easy way to get people to volunteer and make boarding faster and less contentious.
