Thank you so much for your quick responses.

Checking in at the airport vs home makes no difference. When you check-in at the airport you will get a seat request card if no available seat just like at home. Just b/c the seat map shows full does not mean the flight is overbooked.
There are still tickets for sale and showing some availability on seatcounter in Coach and First. You will be fine. The only seats to select now are preferred seats however at the gate they will assign you a seat. Safe travels.
You'll probably be in good shape. See they like to hold the best coach seats until departure so they can give them to folks that don't travel much and keep them out of the hands of Platinum and Diamond folks. Its less work all around.
Sounds like I can just check-in online and avoid the hassle of doing so at SFO. Thanks.

If the seat is available at check-in then there is no reason why you would be booted out unless you don't meet all the requirements.
On the 2nd part, your exit seat on the MD-88 should not be taken away. However on Delta, seats are NEVER guaranteed and they have the right to change them.
Sounds great! It's a very short flight (MSP-MKE, about 1.2hrs), so it wouldn't make much of a difference, but certainly good to know

What fare class was this booked in?
The ticket was booked in coach, fare class T. Does this make a difference? Thanks!
