Overbooked flight...check-in online or at the terminal?
Hi everyone,
I'm booked on DL2606 tonight aboard a 738. However, I have not been able to choose my seat since the online seat map is showing the flight as overbooked. The site says that if I check-in online, my boarding pass won't have a seat number, and that I'll get assigned to one at the gate. However, if I check in at the airport I would most likely get a seat number at check-in, right? So my question is, does it make a difference whether I check-in online or at the terminal to ensure I get a seat that I want (e.g. a window seat) and more importantly, not get bumped off the flight?
And just one other question: I'm connecting to another Delta flight (on an MD88), and the seat map let me choose an exit row, though I have no status with Delta and I have not paid or spent any miles to be sitting there. Will the seat be taken away from me?
Thank you very much,
