It's very frustrating to make your boarding announcements and have almost no one pay attention. I have thought about how we could change the behavior of those that refuse to pay attention or move out of the way but I can't think of anything, short of using the boarding poles that Southwest uses.

When we have enough agents working the flight, one of us can do the actual boarding while the other one is working the line. Some nights I feel like Moses parting the Red Sea.
