Since its an 098 ticket they money will be held with AI, because you didn't travel any sectors on NZ they would have not have received any money for your trip.

Being a AI ticket they should have full control over it, even if NZ canceled your sectors on NZ.

Which airline placed you on the CX flight? was it NZ or AI?
