I'm holding two J reservations on Qantas for next March, calling periodically to see if any F seats open up. I figured I'd give up at 22 days out to avoid the expedite fee. With the new changes in holding award seats, should I just bite the bullet and ticket them now? (Maybe I won't have any choice but to do so?) Or could it actually become more likely that F award seats will open up? (Sigh, I guess that's a bit optimistic...) My current hold period expires 9/2.</font>
Given the paucity of QF rewards in ANY premium class I would ticket them the day before your hold period expires and then continue checking regularly. I would think that F will open up closer to departure (like perhaps the week before). I wouldn't expect anything in F to open up by 9/2 because even at that the departure is too far in the future to have a clue what the flight load will be like.
