We offer Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan (and Syria, Lebanon, Mongolia, etc).
Some of my favourites would include a trip to South East Asia that would include the Burmese Himalayas. There's a stunning lodge designed by Jean Michel Gathy that seemingly exists in the middle of nowhere.
Or a horseback expedition in Northern Mongolia to visit the tsaatan or reindeer herders(switching to riding reindeers once you reach their summer encampment) or a horseback falconry trip in Western Mongolia.
East Africa offers Northern Kenya- with the excellent Lemarti's Camp in Laikipia, the remote Lake Tanganyika in Tanzania for some chimp trekking and the ultra-luxury Singita in the Serengeti. Lamu on the Swahili coast offers an unbeatable cultural distraction- entirely pedestrianized, the view from my hotel room were of donkeys and women in purdah making their way along the narrow passageways.
