I had the Costco AMEX Platinum Rebate card untill contacted by AMEX and given the sales pitch on how much better the True Earnings cards benefits are. The caller could not run the numbers on my past history for me to compare how the rebates would be on the new card. So I agreed thinking I would run the numbers myself. After the first statement came I determined that on 37,000/yr I would get a $400 rebate while last year I received $513. I palmed my forehead and said "You idiot why would AMEX come up with a bigger rebate card?" So I called up AMEX and there is no way back!!! I looked at the last page of the statement from the previous Platinum and the new True Earnings and the "Rebate Summary" is changed to a different format so you can't compare the old with new! How convenient! I'm ticked but if you want to charge at Costco you have no choice!
