Traveling to Italy with Meds

Hey guys,

My mother and I will be traveling to Catania, Italy from Sydney Australia in July with CX. We have a lay over in HKG and FCO. My mother and I both have precription medications we need to take with us and they are:

Diabex
Diaformin
Gliclazide
Pravachol
Atacand
Spiractin

These are for sugar, blood pressure and PCOS related problems.

I've contacted the Italian embassy and they told us to get a medical certificate from our doctors, and say what we're taking and why, and also to make sure that the meds are in their original boxes/ bottles.

Is there anything else we should do? Will we be ok at HKG airport on our layover?

Also, since it's the first time I'll be traveling in 10 years, my mum, 14 years. when we're going through securities in these 3 countries, will we need to take out our clear plastic bags of cosmetics and medications for inspection and declare these?

Thanks for your help, I'm just getting worried these meds will cause trouble even though they're allowed.
