I didn't want to be in a situation in which I would have to cancel and rebook in which case I'm running the risk the room wouldn't be available anymore but hopefully a diamond agent will be able to just change the dates. The thing is that I'm not sure how many nights I'll be staying until I find more about this conference next year.
Since you're there for a conference - do check the official conference rate which could be cheaper than the Guaranteed Availability Rate - also do check close in since the conference will likely release unsold rooms from the room block.
