Yes the machines work for the electronic upgrades. Just swipe your AA elite card and the res comes up with the pre assigned seat. You can change seat assignment if you wish. The only problem that I have encountered is that every time I have used the Kiosks I get selected for the pre boarding search and seizure. This might be simply be a coincidence, but it has happened to me. All in all, I really do love the machines.
