Latest update on this:
CX called at 10am BKK time on Tuesday 20th that my bags are still not found. And they will refer the matter to the Singapore office.
The next day, CX advised me that they have forwarded my suitcases on the same flight as I travelled on from BKK to SIN on SQ. Well, it would have been nice if SQ told me about it as CX said they did.
Anyway, I got my suitcases back. BKK customs did open it and moved some things about but other than some melted chocolates, everything was fine.
CX BKK called to advise me that they had NO idea that the suitcases were found until they arrived into BKK as their handling agents in Paris (AA ground staff) did not advise CX or Air France for that matter. (AF flew the suitcases directly to BKK). The suitcases were indeed left behind in CDG airport.
I guess the lesson learned here is that even though you can make a 1.5 hour connection at CDG airport your bag might not. And even though this was a baggage transfer which involves the ONEWORLD alliance, in FRANCE, it might as well has been coordinated by mules between the two terminals! BA and EI uses Terminal 1. The rest of the Oneworld alliance other than IB uses T2. IB uses Orly. Next time, I'll check them through to Paris only and carry them across to each terminal myself!
