Rabbits are more dangerous then you think (well not the rabbits themselves). From a story about them in Paris seven years ago (worth a read for what they do at some airports to chase animals away).

Runway rabbits wreak havoc
"Rabbits!" I squealed, looking out the window. "I see rabbits!"

It was my first trip to Paris, and I thought I'd seen rabbits — hundreds of them — calmly nibbling on the grass along the runway as our overnight flight touched down. "Can't be," replied my husband as he eyed me warily. Was I just imagining them? Maybe I was too excited about our vacation to see straight.

Turns out, the rabbits were real. But they weren't welcomed guests. In fact, Charles de Gaulle Airport had to launch "Operation Rabbit" to combat the problem. Here's why: Rabbits living on grassy areas near the runways left droppings. Droppings were drawing mice. Birds were swooping down to snatch the mice. And planes taking off or landing were in danger of getting damaged by hitting the birds or sucking them into the engines.
