In my experience, flights usually land and take off to the east on either runway 8/28 (north of the terminal) or 10/26 (south of the terminal). Tou will have a better view of Old San Juan and Condado if you are sitting on the left side of the aircraft.

Same thing when departing. US bound a/c will usually make a left had turn after take-off giving the left side seats a view over the city.
