I am planning on travelinga couple long haul segments on United (SFO-FRA, DXB-IAD) with my seven year old son - I tried looking at united.com for in flight entertainment options, it does not mention AVOD in economy - how is the entertainment - personal screens/AVOD? For SFO-FRA, take the evening 777 flight (UA 926), not the 747-operated UA 900 flight, if you want personal screens in economy. It won't be AVOD (most likely... so far only one aircraft upgraded), but it's better than the big screen everyone-sees-the-same-and-it-aint-kids-programming on the 747.
DXB-IAD should be on a 777 anyway, AFAIK.
