Really? I'm sure that's correct; in my ignorance, however, I managed to get thru security at LGW, EDI and LHR not 3 weeks ago with a lighter and some match books in my carry-on (smoking may not be permitted in flight, but it's certainly permitted in the departure lounges inside security). No questions about whether or not I had them from the screeners, either.

In fact, at one airport (can't remember which one), I had the lighter inside the pack of cigarettes, which I sent thru the x-ray and proceeded to open and show to the guard. No problem at all.

BTW, birdstrike, I'm going to have to try and figure out a way to get the phrase "situationally stupid" into my daily conversations. I like that.
