What is really cool is that it is SO SIMPLE on Southwest's web site. You go to the web site. You click "change flight." Enter confirmation number and your name. Choose the flight to change (you can get a refund on just one leg if only that leg has gone down in price). It pops up with the same flight as you were originally on. Click Select New Flight even if you want to rebook to the same flight. Click again on the same flight you were on. A couple more clicks and you've got "Ticketless Travel Funds" (aka TTF) in the bank. Use that money anytime you want in the next year.
You don't even have to get someone on the phone to do it, although you can have it done on the phone, free of charge, if you don't like doing such things on the Internet.
