In a previous life, as a marine cargo superintendent, I saw this all the time onboard large Ro-Ro ships (Roll on/Roll off). With the wings off, these RJ aircraft can be carried without much problem on large Ro-Ro ships. BTW it's the same way that locomotives, large construction equipment and many large industrial components are shipped between continents.
