Thanks for your comments pirossalma, but that has not been my experience. Southwest Vacations policy of no changes within 14 days for flight+hotel packages is not inline with their competitors.
I take blame for not reading the terms carefully, and will never use Southwest Vacations again because of these terms. I should have known something was up when I read they issued paper tickets (is it 1990?)!
I've used the other 4 companies cited below and compare them to Southwest Vacations policy:
Expedia Package: No date restriction (defers to Airline policy).
Apple Vacations: No date restriction (defers to Airline policy + $45 fee).
Orbitz Package: 24 hours when no changes can be made.
United Vacations: 72 hours when no changes can be made.
Southwest Vacations: 336 hours when no changes can be made.
Expedia flight + hotel policy:
"The airfare in this package is non-refundable. Credit may be issued as per applicable airline policies less airline change fees." and "Your flight may be changed but not canceled unless noted below."
Orbitz's hotel + flight policy is:
"Once you are within 24 hours of day of departure, no changes can be made."
Apple Vacations policy:
"Land Only and Scheduled Air Packages
Pre-departure: both the cancel and booking change fees are $45 per person Apple fee plus applicable hotel and airline penalties."
United vacations policy:
REVISION FEES (Per Reservation)
Air-Inclusive Vacations
46+ days prior to departure - $25
45 - 4 days prior to departure - $50
72 hours or less prior to departure - No Revisions
