Using AA Vacations and mileage for the air and hotel, they want 120,000 miles plus $3573.00.
Redeeming miles for two first class award tix for the same flights would cost me 100,000 miles (saver award available) and the same hotel if I pay cash would cost $1100 plus tax for the same hotel and same 4 nights.
So doing it myself would save 20K miles from my account plus about $2400. Is AA Vacation always much more expensive or am I missing something here?
I've used them in the past and found good prices on airfare and hotel deals, but that was paying all cash for the package. The miles plus cash options have never once been anything close to reasonable, let alone a good deal in my experience.
