I would say I get Kia's or Hyundai's more than half the time when renting in the NYC area. Ford and GM have cut back on their fleet sales to keep up resale value. I think Kia and Hyundai don't care and are happy to dump cars on the rental car market. They seem fine when they're new but the ones with 20K miles are pretty scary. Hardly consistent with the moderately upscale experience Hertz would like to present and they know it. For example, how many of them do they show on their website as the representative car?
