However, somehow other dire illnesses have been lost in the overwhelming success of the breast cancer publicity campaign. Accept it or not, charities/foundations that support cures, testing and public awareness for various illnesses are in direct competition with each other for donations and publicity. Breast cancer has planes and pink ribbons, muscular dystrophy has Jerry Lewis, Parkinson's has Michael J. Fox, and the list goes on.
So no, I am not in favor of another pink plane. Personally (not that that matters) I would rather see a plane dedicated to supporting and publicizing the work of the leukemia and lymphoma society. Not likely to happen -- they haven't co-opted a color to be their symbol. Before I get flamed here, I do want and hope for prevention and cure of breast cancer. I just don't want other worthy causes to get lost in the rush for everything pink.
I don't think that there is any reason for flaming you... You have a cause and you support it. I'm a breast cancer survivor (5 years next week) and wouldn't be around here to agitate other FT members had it not been for the funding for research that companies have contributed to for fighting aggressive breast cancer... 10 or 15 years ago, my chances for survival would have been 6 months to a year max after they found the cancer... As much as companies can contribute to help stamp out these horrible diseases, I'm right behind you... And I, for one, think that the pink planes (and any other cause that Delta chooses to paint planes to support) are great...
