Obtaining these hours I think requires at least 4-5 years of work. At jobs that start at 16k and maybe as high as 35-40k.

So now you've invested 60k and 4-5 years of jobs that barely allow you to raise a family on the salary. Finally, Jazz hires you.
Oh joy, a starting salary of 36k!! After 2-3 years you'll earn a whopping 42k!

How about we import foreign pilots who will work for 25k a year no questions asked? That will show those "greedy" pilots! Sounds safe to me...
Ohh - why are you accusing the pilots of being 'greedy'? I certainly wouldn't do that. I think they have a valid point. I just disagree with the union's method of striking to get their point across. It just shows that both sides are being immature and do not know how to negotiate properly in order to bring fairness to all parties involved. Striking is immature and unproductive - no agrument about that.

My comments have nothing to do with what schooling is required and how much hours a pilot has to put in. They chose to work for the company and at the agreed to pay rates. If they are unhappy with that then they should discuss this with the employer in a productive and fair method - not strike.

I paid several thousands and thousands of dollars for 6 years of university. Hundreds of people's lives are in my hands. It took me many years before I too started to earn a higher salary. But it is my chosen profession because it is what I love. I would never dream of abandoning my customers because I have a pay issue. That is something I would discuss properly with my employer. But that is my choice.

So I must disagree with you that the pilots are 'greedy'. I certainly would never say such a thing.
