Baggage fees, even if I am booking from overseas?

Hi, the United website has a lot of information but nothing definite so I thought I would ask here.

I am planning on flying United from Australia to the US, with a few domestic flights included. I was wondering if, seeing as I am purchasing in Australian Dollars from the United Australia website if they are going to charge me baggage fees?

I am even more confused after seeing an entry in the FAQ saying that if you were travelling LAX-Washington and then onto London then they won't charge you a baggage fee on the domestic leg.

Also, one of the flights I plan to book has a connection in Denver. If I am paying baggage fees, for this flight will I have to pay two baggage fees? Or just the one seeing as they are selling me a connecting flight.

If anyone knows for sure how my situation will work, please let me know.
