I would also reccomend lunges, wall squats, maybe some bent rowing with the weights. Heck, my trainer has me doing all those and more the only "machine" we use is a band and the treadmill when it is raining and I have lost a ton of weight, grown stronger and feel great. And I agree about the puking feeling...
