True does not make a difference ticket is bought 1-2 weeks in advance but ~10% of the time mine are purchased <3 days in advance. With the current system a PLT requesting a sticker upgrade would qualify for an automated upgrade at 72 hours. If they are already upgraded a EXP buying a ticket close to departure is SOL. Best would be if they go to a system based on $ paid. More you pay better your chances - within appropriate status groups of course.
