We were escorted all the way through from the baggage hall by a very helpful member of BA ground staff to the BA gate and it was the only way we would have made it. The last passengers were boarding just as we arrived. Even with a through ticket, it was still very stressful.
We have 4.5 hours in MIA on the way home. They aren't through tickets as our BA flights are a 2-4-1 redemption.

I certainly hope we don't encounter the same as you did. Mrs BiH will do her nut.
