Exclamation "Save 15 Percent, Get Up To 25,000 Miles" on SkyClub renewals

Just got this from Delta.

I can get 15% off renewing my SkyClub membership, and I can get 5,000 miles for each friend (up to 5 friends) I refer (and they get 15% off annual membership, too).

Dear DanTravels,

For You:

You've seen what a difference it makes to have access to the Delta Sky Club and its amenities. Now, you can invite friends and family to save 15% on an annual membership. You'll earn 5,000 bonus miles (up to 25,000) for each new membership. Plus, you can renew your membership and save 15% too.
To renew your membership, visit delta.com/skyclub and save 15% by entering Promo Code: (Redacted).
To earn 5,000 bonus miles on up to 5 new memberships, share this offer with family and friends.
Visit delta.com/saveshare or click the "Submit Info" button located in this email, enter the name and SkyMiles account number for each person who is going to make a Delta Sky Club purchase.
Bookmark delta.com/saveshare for future reference so you can return to this page and register additional friends and family.
Once the friends you've registered purchase their memberships using Promo Code: (Redacted), then your SkyMiles account will receive the bonus.

For a Friend:

with friends and family and they'll save 15%.
Provide your SkyMiles account number to the person who shared this offer with you.
A SkyMiles number is required for a Delta Sky Club membership. To obtain a SkyMiles number visit delta.com/skymiles.
Once you are registered for this promotion, purchase a new membership at delta.com/skyclub and enter Promo Code: (Redacted).
I went to the SkyClub web site and clicked join/renew, which immediately got me a "We're sorry, but we could not complete your transaction online." Which, honestly, it should, since I don't think it's possible to renew a lifetime membership.

I'm a bit baffled as to why they would offer to give me a discount if I renew for another lifetime. Surely finding myself flying any US-flagged carrier in the afterlife would be a sign I did not make it into any kind of "heaven."
