* After having my wallet stolen a few times over the years (not Marriott-related), I basically do the same thing. Everything (extra cc, BBV cards, hotel airline cards, etc) stay in an envelope until I need them & then I put them in my wallet. Use them if necessary, and don't have to worry about replacing all of them if something goes wrong.

* Your card should have been irrelevant. You were either entitled to the gov't rate or you weren't, and the completely booked is just bogus.
