I know that once an AT&T cell phone is registered on a European network, AT&T forwards your voice mail to the phone. If you listen to it, you pay the AT&T international roaming rate. I haven't tried this, but if you call your cell phone with Skype, hit * and your password at the voice mail prompt, you should be able to listen to your voice mail at the much cheaper Skype rate.
