You are staying at the Westin so I guess you are not exactly on a "student budget"; You will have plenty of time to take the Metro and the buses and even the RER; DO take a taxi to your hotel and arrive fresh and calm.
10-15 euros tops for the ride.
enjoy Paris; it is awesome even in the heat of August.
