My sister has 60k miles in her AA acct. I just put 3 roundtrips for tomorrow on hold and each one cost 50k miles. So she has 60k miles and is holding 150k miles in tickets on hold. Of course the business model is diff. in that you can only hold a ticket for 1-5 days (usually) but it is possible to hold as many tickets as you want so long as you have enough points for each ticket by itself.
