Or more to the point, avoid the window seat entirely, unless you know that the aisle seat next to you will POSITIVELY, ABSOLUTELY, WITHOUT A DOUBT-- be empty

. And even if you 'know the person in the aisle seat" next to you, you'd still want to avoid the gymnastic gyrations needed to extridite yourself, should your companion be fully reclined as well.
