Disagree.

If I have 6 pre-paid/non-refundable reservations on the books during a mattress run, I'm going to be earning 3 free nights with the BWB promo. I'm on the hook with Hyatt for the money regardless. Why do they care if I book my award travel now or in 2 months when I've officially earned the credits? It's no different than my work allowing me to take vacation in January when I technically haven't accrued the time yet.

I have almost 70 SWA Rapid Reward credits in my account. If I was inclined, I could book 4 roundtrip tickets from DAL-LAS to reserve spots for me and my friends on a trip we "might" take. According to SWA's T&C, I can cancel my reservation up to 90 minutes prior to departure without any penalty. My credits will be immediately returned into my Rapid Rewards account.

Now, if you were trying to book the same trip, would it make you feel better that I blocked you from an Award with credits I've already earned on a trip that I'm not going to take?
