I rarely fly on Classic Plus, because as a Summit flyer, I get all of the benefits (except free food) of Classic Plus on an Economy fare. But, like you, my previous experience was as you described.

What YX passengers are used to was an announcement of what was available for sale, and then on the drink pass the F/A asked if you wanted to purchase food when they asked if you’d like something to drink.
That makes a ton of sense. Sell the food when the pax's get their drinks.
