As a 1K, I'm not having any problem using miles, particularly thanks to the NY inventory. As soon as my son decided upon a college (3,000 miles from home) I was able to find NY inventory for him to return home the day before Thanksgiving and head back east the following Sunday. I had been trying to burn most of my miles (mostly for family travel) but have been a little more successful than I had thought, so my inventory is dipping to historically low levels. I'm definitely valuing them at more than 2 cpm because I'm often using them for coach tix that might cost $700 per RT.
