Remember those certs are restrictive.
the certs are restrictive...but also say the same thing happens to me next time. example: ticket is $250 and i use the cert, and pay $50. then i misconnect and have to buy a WN ticket. well...my refund is based on some portion of $50, not some portion of $250.
also has to be one way or round trip. no open jaws, multi-city. it has an expiration. if i cancel within 24 hours, i lose the cert. there are a number of reasons a $200 cert is not as good as $200 cash!
