Apologies if this has already been answered; I did some forum searches and didn't find what I was looking for.

Treating a friend to an award ticket on AC LHR-YOW-DCA. He is a UK citizen and will be landing around 3pm on a Sunday. What should he expect in terms of security? I'm assuming he'll need to claim bags and present for inspection then recheck bags, using the "in transit" lanes, but I myself have never transited through YOW so I don't know for sure.

It is literally his first flight anywhere, ever, so I am hoping to give him as much detail as possible. He is flying Executive First (he's going to be mad when he goes back to the UK and takes his first RyanAir flight, I bet) so I'd assume he'd have MLL access on the 2.5 hour layover if there's enough time for a visit.

Any tips or details on how it all works would be most appreciated! Thanks in advance!
